The Syringe Exchange Program (SEP) administered by Open Aid Alliance is an evidenced-based public health program that reduces infection and the spread of diseases such as HIV and hepatitis C among community members who inject drugs. We provide sterile syringes, other safer injection equipment, biohazard disposal, education, harm reduction information, and referrals for people who use injection drugs (PWID). The exchange is anonymous, safe, and judgement free. Check the Focus Groups tab for information on feedback and meetings.
Hours: Our Syringe Exchange operates Monday-Thursday 1pm-5pm and Friday 1pm-3pm.
We’re pleased to announce a new 24hr safe syringe disposal box to make it even easier to dispose of used syringes. The box is located behind Burns Street Bistro at 1500 Burns St. See below for a map and more details.
A safe and always available syringe disposal box.
Syringe exchange programs are part of a harm reduction strategy to keep people safe and to help stop the spread of HIV and other diseases. Check out this video for more about harm reduction.
